We resumed meetings in September. Please note the special arrangements which will be in place.
Programme for late 2021 into early 2022:
|Date||Presenter||Subject||11 September||Simon Tarrant||An Austrian Orchid Adventure||9 October||Ray Payne||A Survey of Orchids Grown by Enthusiasts||13 November||Ray Payne||Fantastic Plants||12 February||Laurence Hobbs||Growing Orchids: Title to be confirmed|
We will not hold our usual quiz in January 2022.
The Hall is open from 1.30pm with the meeting running from 2.00 until 4.00pm.
Our meetings are a friendly gathering with plenty of opportunity to share our orchid successes (and failures!). Meetings always open with time to enter plants into the monthly Table Show or to set up a non-competitive display if you prefer. This is a good time to seek help with a problem plant or a query as our more experienced members will always be willing to give advice and share their knowledge.
The annual programme is a varied one, with speakers on a variety of orchid related topics. We try to ensure that the range of speakers reflects the wide range of interests of our members . The booked speaker usually commences at 2.00pm and may give an illustrated talk or provide a demonstration. After a break for tea, speakers are usually very happy to answer questions.
We will ensure seating is socially distanced, either singly or in pairs; and although wearing a face mask is optional it is highly recommended. The speaker will not wear a mask but we will increase the gap between speaker and audience.
We hope to have a table show, so please bring along any plants in flower. There will be a one-way system for viewing and social distancing should be observed. We are hoping to provide refreshments but at the moment this cannot be confirmed. We will also try to ensure good ventilation of the hall by keeping the doors open.
A hand sanitiser will be provided.
